We all live in a world full of inconvenient truths and this poem is likely be one of them.
I wrote this 3 years ago after reading an article about politically-driven summary executions allegedly performed by our very own Philippine Army in most parts of Mindanao. Looks like greed has come a long way since Aguinaldo don't you think?

saan ka ba patungo?
saan mo ba 'yan gagamitin?
isa't kalahating kilometro na ang iyong nilakad
at ang presyo mo'y iisa pa rin
at parehas sa naunang bayad
kelan ka ba gigising?
ano pang hinihintay?
ba't di mo aminin
ilabas ang iyong mga daing
mga hinanakit na sa iyo'y
itinambak, ibinaling at naipon
sa pagdaan ng panahon
ba't di mo ipaglaban ang iyong sarili?
sa mga buwayang handang sumunggab
sa mga pagkakataong ika'y nakatalikod
humarap ka kapatid huwag kang manlumo't mahiya
tutal pare-parehas lang naman tayong
limampiso ang presyo
limampiso ang bayad
